Review #989 - 1792 Full Proof Single Barrel - Wiseguy Lounge Pick 'Executive Decision'

It's been a little while since we've looked at one of these 1792 Full Proof single barrels, but we're back with our 4th, and it's another Wiseguy Lounge selection. This pick is named 'Executive Decision,' and like the others we've looked at, it's 6 years old and comes with a strength of 62.5% ABV (125 proof).

1792 Full Proof Single Barrel - Wiseguy Lounge Pick 'Executive Decision'

USA - Bourbon

Price: USD 75 (2025)

Age Statement: 6 Years

Strength: 62.5% ABV

Details: Not chill filtered

Tasting Methodology: Reviewed 1 time; bottle at 20% fill level at time of review. Tasted in a nosing glass each time, rested 15+ minutes

Nose: Oak-forward with some leather notes; the complexion is dark, and soon fruits take over. Dark Luxardo cherry combines with grape cough medicine, and we get a subtle spicy amaro note in the background.

Palate: The mouthfeel is medium-thick. Cocktail bitters, wood spice, and cinnamon red hots lead a spicy front palate, while red fruit like cherry builds behind that. Cardamom, nutmeg, and candied pecans add more baking notes with time.

Finish: Strawberry compote, strong wood spice and some tannins, and then a bit of vanilla... we get a leathery side to the oak, as well as a lighter, brighter influence: cotton and vanilla. It's a medium-long finish, especially due to the spirity warmth.

Final Note: This is a tasty bourbon with a nice mixture of strong oak and baking spice influence and also some dark fruit flavors. That Luxardo cherry note on the nose was quite nice, and we enjoyed the accents of baking spices in the palate, which came across as spicy as a whole. It's a good bourbon, one worth going back to.

Value is also well above average due to the fair price of around $75. That isn't necessarily cheap for 6 year old bourbon, but this Full Proof version packs a lot of flavor, and the single barrel variety always brings interesting nuances.

Our Rating: 7.5 / 10

In the current whisky landscape of increasing prices and variable quality, we've added a value rating to our reviews that relates to the score and the available pricing of each whisky. This roughly equates to a 0-10 scale; no reviews so far have exceeded a score of 10, although it is technically possible for the formula to produce a value rating higher than 10 with a high enough score and low enough price.

Value Rating: 7.11
